Designed as a replacement for the 7.62x39 caliber AKM, the 5.45x39 caliber AK-74 has been in service with Russian and Bulgarian troops since the early 1990's. | Saiga front sight is pressed off and replaced with an original Bulgarian threaded front sight assembly. This Bulgarian assembly is an indistinguishable copy of the Russian version, which is not legally importable. It also has a functional spring-loaded plunger and lug, and an original military threaded cleaning rod. |

We feel the modern finish we use exceeds the original in durability. The finish we use is not available anywhere else...it's something we devised after much deliberation. |
